Please find below a list of frequently asked questions and our best effort to answer all your questions online.
Simply click the 'Register' link in the upper right corner of the home page. Enter the pertinent information in the fields provided, click the 'Register' button at the bottom of the page and you're done. We promise the information you submit is only used for the proper operation of this site, ie. so that buyers and sellers may contact each other. We don't disclose it, sell it, lease it, or anything else. We'll only use it to contact you if there's a problem with your account.
Click the 'Dashboard' link in the upper right corner of the Home page, or on the 'Post Now' button in the appropriate section of the home page. Fill out the necessary information about the property or service and add your images and photos. The more information you can include, the better. Make sure to make the ad 'Go Live' when you're finished. For ads selling Real Estate, click on the appropriate tabs at the top to make sure you enter all the information and the clickable logo you want on the ad. The web address you enter in the 'marketing' tab will be the one that the logo links to.
After your RECA is posted, wait to start getting views and contacts. You will receive questions directly to your email address. You can simply respond to them and be in direct contact with the potential buyer. Your email address is hidden from the buyer until you reply for the first time.
The free form text box will only accept plain text. Make sure there is no special formatting attached to any text that you may be copying or 'cut and pasting' from another source.
Unfortunately we may still have an occasional database error. We're always improving our debugging, so the errors are declining every day. Most of the info is auto saved into our database as you load it, so you won't lose it. If you get an error, simply open 'My Properties' on you dashboard, reopen the ad you were loading and finish the process. If you still have a problem, please Contact Us and let us know.
Please let us know right away if you property is sold. This is easily done from your my properties page by clicking on the sold link under status. After answering a few questions, your property will be marked as sold and removed from the live search after 30 days.
Buyers will keep coming back to Nyumba.ca and if a property they were listed in just "disappears" they may wonder what is going on. So we will leave properties on the site for up to 30 days (subject to change) so that potential buyers can see that the property was sold and can move on to finding another one!
RECA's will actually stay in favorites lists indefinitely. This is so that interested buyers can monitor a property if it may come up for sale again, or if they've been away from the site for more than 30 days.
We started with most of the cities/towns in Ontario. However anyone can add their location elsewhere in Canada when loading a Property/Rental ad, just simply type it in the 'City' field when loading your property. Make sure it's spelled correctly so people can find it when they search.
As of spring 2011 we don't have a French version of the site. It is coming later in 2011, or early 2012. However, in the mean time, people can still post free form sections of ads in French, in Quebec.
